Zeyu has been awarded funding for a study on: Multimodal pathology foundation model for early lesion mapping, quantification, and risk-informed patient management. This project aims to develop artificial intelligence tools to help pathologists detect and assess very early signs of cancer in the digestive system, especially in oesophageal and gastric disease. These early changes can be small and subtle, which makes them difficult to assess consistently. By training AI models specifically on early lesions, and linking pathology images with relevant molecular information where available, we hope to improve the accuracy and consistency of pathology assessment in settings such as screening, surveillance, and endoscopic treatment follow-up. Zeyu added: “In future, I hope this project will help doctors identify high-risk early lesions more accurately and consistently, so that patients can receive the right follow-up or treatment earlier.”
